Sidebite helps UC Riverside students pick where to eat near campus. This page explains what we collect, why, and what we never do with it.
What we collect
- Your UCR email address, to sign you in and confirm you're a student.
- What you tell us about how you eat: cuisines you like, budget, things you don't eat.
- The spots we pick for you, the visits you redeem at the counter, and the scores you give.
- Your location, only at the moment you redeem a deal, to confirm you're at the spot. We don't track you otherwise.
- Your mobile number, only if you turn on texts, plus the texts you send us and we send you.
How we use it
- To pick spots for you and send your Wednesday drop.
- To reply to your texts. Texts you send are answered by an AI model (Anthropic's Claude) that sees your message, your recent texts with us and your food preferences, so it can pick a spot.
- To show partner spots how many students visited, as totals. Spots never see who you are.
Texts and your phone number
We do not sell, rent or share your mobile number or text-messaging consent with anyone for their marketing. Mobile information is not shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. Your number is used only to send the texts you signed up for. It passes through our texting provider (Twilio) to deliver them.
Who else handles your data
- Supabase stores the app's data. Vercel runs the website.
- Twilio delivers texts. Anthropic processes the texts you send us so the AI can reply.
- Google Maps provides the spot photos we show.
Your choices
- Text STOP anytime to stop texts, or turn them off in your account.
- Email brandon.sidebite@gmail.com to get a copy of your data or have your account deleted.
